Hall Red Angus Annual Production Sale
Hall Red Angus, Lamoine & Helen Hall of Bartlett and Brad & Paula Pokorny of Stapleton NE held their Annual Production Sale on March 2, at the Burwell Livestock Market in Burwell. Many calving ease bulls and feminine heifers were in the offering. The sun was shining for the prospective buyers to look the lots over and bid on the bulls and heifers.
94 yearling bulls averaged $2,777
17 yearling heifers averaged $1,382
Steve and Pam Reed of Thedford NE, bought four of the top end bulls including the Lot 67 bull, HLH Lance102 6016 9208, a BUF CRK Lance R102 son out of an Above and Beyond daughter, to top the sale at $5,500. They also bought Lot 20, HLH Lancer95 7275 9064 for $4,500, a stylish BUF CRK Lancer son. Lot's 3 and 41 were also bought by the Reeds at $4,000 each.
Lot 15, HLH Lancer95 7331 9052, a BUF CRK Lancer R095 son out of an NEO-SHO Ice Box daughter, sold to Gifford Leu, Sutherland NE for $5,000.
Paxton Ranch of Stapleton NE, bought seven lots including the Lot 34 bull, a BKT Cody son out of a BUF CRK Julesburg daughter, for $4,600 and Lot 53, a BECKTON Epic M115 son for $4,250.
Other BECKTON Cody sons sold to the Finney Ranch of Mullen NE for $4,500 and Steve VanPelt of Archer NE for $3,900. The Warren Ranch of Seneca NE paid $4,000 each for a BECKTON Epic M115 son and a BUF CRK Lancer son
Kilday Ranch of Fullerton was the volume buyer with eight bulls. Rick VanderWey of Crookston Ne bought 7 and Kent Streck of Ida Grove IA bought 5.
Mike Schetz of Denton Texas bought the top selling heifer, Lot 111, a stylish BECKTON Epic M115 daughter out of a Capstone daughter for $5,100.
Monte Brown of Crete NE was the volume buyer of the heifers with four.

The Schuler family hosted their 28th annual production sale at the ranch located southwest of Bridgeport, NE on March 25. Schuler Red Angus is a total performance program that utilizes extensive artificial insemination on native range and on-ranch performance testing to identify economically relevant traits and has compiled over 19 years of feedlot and carcass performance data on their seedstock from their own commercial cowherd. In addition to their registered Red Angus cattle they developed the Schuler Red composite which utilizes Red Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh genetics to provide breed complements and heterosis without increasing cow size.
The top selling Red Angus bull was Schuler Supreme 9093W, a rare Romero 9136 son raised by an Enterprise 1370H daughter, to Leland Red Angus, Sidney, MT and Horsley Red Angus, Soper, OK for $6,250. This high gaining bull earned EPDs of CED 11 BW -2.6 WW 34 YW 75 Milk 25 TM 42 ME 5 Marbling 0.16 REA 0.00. Horsley Red Angus also purchased Schuler Flat Iron 9003W for $5750 with EPDs of CED 12 BW -2.4 WW 32 YW 56 Milk 18 TM 34 ME -5 Marb -0.11 REA 0.21. Other top selling Red Angus bulls included Schuler Romero 9210W for $5,100 to Bob Johnson, Porcupine, SD, Schuler Real Deal 9022W and Schuler Norseman King 9027W for $5,000 each to Wilson Ranch, Lakeside NE and Schuler Commitment W451 for $4750 to Kenansville Cattle Co, Kissimmee, FL. Paxton Ranch purchased Schuler Flat Iron 9075W for $4750 and Schuler Envy W505 for $4500 for their commercial operation near Stapleton, NE.
The top selling Schuler Red composite bulls included Schuler Red 62 W227 for $4,400 to Mark Sip, Geddes, SD, Schuler Red 71 W203 to Greg Smith, Milburn, NE for $4,000 and Schuler Red 53 W241 for $4,000 to Kenansville Cattle Company, St. Cloud, FL.
The top selling heifer was SOR Karvi Envy 9261W to Tim Ridnour, Briggsdale, CO.
